Hamamatsu, one of the world’s largest suppliers of advanced light detectors and detector systems for industrial, scientific, and commercial applications, is seeking to fill an Inside Sales Engineer II position, in our San Jose, CA location. Our customer base is remarkably diverse; we serve Fortune 100 firms, top research labs, and innovative startups as well. This position requires working with, or exposure to goods and information that may be subject to the jurisdiction of the US State Department ITAR regulations (https://www.pmddtc.state.gov/index.html) and the Commerce Departments CCL (https://www.bis.doc.gov/index.php).
Lead Follow up and qualification: The ISE level II is responsible for initial lead contact, qualification and follow-up. The process of developing the first impression with customer by seeking to understand the customers’ needs while qualifying the business opportunity.
University and/or End User technical and sales support: Managing non-OEM order(s) up to $100k.
Opportunity Qualification and Progression: Proactively determining how to get to the next step in the sales process of Discovery, Qualification, Proposal, Handling Objections and Closing the Sale.
Demonstrate proficiency with Photonics Technology and their Applications. Demonstrating technical strength by passing established exams with an 80% passing grade.
Territory and Account Management: Manage Opportunities up to a level of $100K.

BS Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office
Two (2) years working as a customer support in an Applications/ Sales Engineering function for a company doing custom and standard OEM products with a proven track of solving customer's complex problems.
The ability to transport yourself to and from appointments.
3 years experience in Photonics industry
1 years inside sales experience
1 year application support for technical OEM Sales
Experience with Customer Resource Management Software
Experience with international business development
Experience with Lotus Notes
